Images: Metropolitan Museum of Art – The Christmas Story

This site I found is soooo cool, you are going to want to share it with all of your friends, which you can easily do by clicking the share button below.

Anyway…..basically this link will take you to a page on the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s website. You read or listen to The Christmas Story (the actual biblical one, not the “you’ll shoot your eye out” one.) While you read or listen, you will see works of art from the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s collection.

I plan to have my children listen to the story, then we will read it together spending time on each image. For example, while looking at the image above, I would probably ask my four year old,”Why are the mommy and daddy looking at the baby?” I would ask my older son, “Why do you think this artist painted gold around Mary’s head?”

Enjoy this beautiful gift from the Metropolitan Museum of Art – The Christmas Story

Neat! We would probably read from an easier version and then talk about the pictures.
