FAMILY: Romare Bearden

For those of  you that know me, you know I LOVE Romare Bearden’s artwork. To see more of his art work, visit the Romare Bearden Foundation Website.

The image pictured above is titled “The Family.” During this holiday season, when you talk about the meaning of family, and spending time with your family, consider looking at images of other families.

Ask your child to talk about what they see in the picture, how we know they are a family, how are they like your family.

Also, using this image as inspiration – allow your child to collage with faces of your family members, and shapes cut from paper.

Such a great idea, Ellen. I love using this as a talking piece about what family means to your child/ren and to see family from their perspective.
